THE
MISSION:

To launch a generation of high school graduates who possess the skills, confidence, and mindset necessary to navigate the world around them in a practical, meaningful, and mindful manner.

Who we are

The BridgeUP Program, located at Cardinal Hayes High School, is a free, non-profit, co-ed after-school program that supports underrepresented youth from low-income New York City communities.  From 9th grade through high school graduation, the BridgeUP Team is there for its BridgeUP Scholars, providing tuition assistance, long-term mentorship, academic support, opportunities for personal development, and a safe space for social connection with their peers.

In collaboration with our Scholars, parents, and partner schools, BridgeUP helps Scholars:

  • to discover what truly motivates them to succeed;

  • to identify goals & set their future vision; and,

  • by providing them with opportunities to develop the skills & mindset they need to keep pushing forward.

Program staff, known as BridgeUP Coaches, work closely with their cohort of assigned students and are deeply committed to supporting each Scholar be as successful as they can be.

Program Coaches are invested in supporting Scholars recognize their strengths and areas for growth, set and achieve individual goals, learn skills to effectively manage one's time, priorities, & emotions, and become more effective communicators, collaborators, critical thinkers, and problem solvers.

In addition to our Program Coaches, BridgeUP is staffed each afternoon by a number of Tutors who provide Scholars with academic support based on the needs of the Scholars. Whether it's "1 to 1" or "small group" tutoring, our goal is to empower Scholars to ask for help when they need it, and to be open to the support when offered.

APPLICATION PROCESS + LINKS

Application Process

By now, you should have a good understanding of what BridgeUP offers and the time commitment expected of its Scholars. Students interested in becoming part of the BridgeUP Program must first complete an online application and submit all requested materials as part of that online submission. Select applicants will then be invited to participate in an admissions interview with the Program Director.

Program admission decisions will be made at the sole discretion of the BridgeUP Program Staff and Program Director. Please be advised that regardless of your admission to one of our partner schools (AMSU, SCA, Cardinal Hayes), the official decision to accept or to not accept a student into BridgeUP is one that will only be made and communicated by the BridgeUP Program Director, not a school administrator, faculty member, nor athletic coach.
